ADDICTION SERVICES BOARD
Recognizing that addiction is a public health and safety issue, the Miami Dade County is committed to the development and implementation of a comprehensive continuum of addiction treatment services. The ASB seeks to foster a culturally-competent service delivery system that is accessible, coordinated, cost-effective, successful and scientifically validated for safety and efficacy in reducing the ill-effects of alcohol and other drug addictions in the Miami-Dade County Community.
Additionally, the ASB will work to provide better coordination between treatment and prevention services, collaborating with the Miami Coalition For a Safe and Drug-Free Community and other prevention efforts to build a seamless set of services from primary prevention to addiction treatment.
ASIAN AMERICAN ADVISORY BOARD
The Board was created to work in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners, administration, community and all agencies in Miami-Dade County with respect to matters pertaining to the Asian-American community.
Its Mission is to advise the Board of County Commissioners, the County Administration, the community with respect to matters pertaining to the Asian-American community in Miami-Dade County. Also, encourage the activities, and participation of Asian-Americans in civic, cultural, Economic, and community affairs, and promote the cultural heritage and eliminate ignorance and bigotry towards Asian-Americans.
BLACK AFFAIRS ADVISORY BOARD
The Board exists to advocate Community in Miami-Dade County—while advancing the quality of life for these residents in a dedicated and responsive manner.
The Black Affairs Advisory Board was created for the purpose of advocating on behalf of the Black World Community for the social, economic, political and educational needs; articulating issues and concerns of the community to the Board of County Commissioners and to make its constituents aware of the services and opportunities available through County government.
COMMISSION FOR WOMEN
The Commission on the Status of Women, was founded by feminist leader Roxcy Bolton and created by the Board of County Commissioners in 1971. The Commission for Women reflects the diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds represented in Miami-Dade County so that the concerns of all women are addressed by the Commission for Women, monitors the condition of women as related to discrimination, employment, education, and attitudes toward women in the community.
In addition to being an advisory board and an advocate for women in the community, our Commission office also serves as a source of referrals and information for women who call with different problems and issues.
COMMISSION FOR WOMEN
This Commission on Human Rights is a quasi-judicial as well as an advisory board charged with the enforcement of Miami-Dade County's civil and human rights ordinance, It’s mission is to help improve the quality of life of all Miami-Dade County residents by combating discrimination in the areas of employment, housing, public accommodations, credit and financing practices, family leave and domestic violence leave. This is accomplished by receiving, initiating, investigating, and conciliating complaints based on:
Race, Color, Religion, National origin, Sex, Age, Disability, Marital status, Familial status, Sexual orientation
The Commission on Human Rights is authorized to take complaints against employers with five or more employees in Miami-Dade County, and to investigate allegations of discrimination under federal, state and local laws. The Board also provides technical assistance to employers and housing providers in the implementation of fair employment and fair housing practices, and holds public hearings concerning issues of discrimination affecting residents of Miami-Dade County.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS BOARD
The primary mission of the Community Relations Board is to intervene and contain community tensions, as quickly as possible.
The secondary mission of the Community Relations Board is to work proactively to identify and relieve intergroup conflicts before crises arise, to develop bridges of understanding and support programs in the community, to foster understanding, communication, and mutual respect, to develop and support local or city based Community Relations Boards throughout the county; and, to assure that resources are in place to respond to community crisis.
HISPANIC AFFAIRS ADVISORY BOARD
As established by the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners to improve the quality of life of Hispanic citizens – to identify and monitor the needs and/or interests of Hispanic citizens, develop programs addressing such issues, encourage involvement of Hispanics in matters of community concerns, support the development of Hispanics in leadership roles, and recommend to the Board of County Commissioners legislation supporting Hispanic issues. In support of its mission, the Board’s primary activities include hosting educational television and radio programs on issues of concern to the Hispanic community; information and referral services; networking fairs; public forums; and the development and implementation of special projects and signature events celebrating Hispanic Heritage month. Among them, the Hispanic Art Expressions Exhibit showcasing the richness of the Hispanic culture through painting and sculpture; and the Hispanic Role Model and Future Leader of the Year Award Luncheon established to recognize Hispanics who have contributed to the enhancement and development of business, culture, education, press and/or the arts in our community. Both events are hosted in October.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
The Miami-Dade County Domestic Violence Oversight Board was created to serve in accordance with State Law, to develop and submit to the Board of County Commissioners a comprehensive plan for the use of the portion of the local optional food and beverage sales tax proceeds dedicated to the provision of domestic violence centers as prescribed in Chapter 2, Article LXVI of the Code of Miami-Dade County. As part of this plan, the Miami-Dade County Domestic Violence Oversight Board is further charged with pursuing maximization of available federal and state matching funds and generally monitoring and evaluating the provision of services to domestic violence victims.
